Apache Received Flying Cross Award

A 1st Cavalry Division AH-64D Longbow Apache pilot was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross at the Fort Hood Catering and Conference Center a year later on January 28, 2008 after facing an unknown enemy force and risking his own life to save his two friends. The Greatest Aircraft Depicted in Postage Stamps

In August 12, 2004, 50 postage stamps from the Marshall Islands were featured as the World’s Greatest Aircraft. The postage stamps were illustrated by renowned aviation artists Jack Fellows and Steve Ferguson. It depicted 50 aircraft that have been pivotal in the history of powered flight. The subject of the stamps was selected by the History of Powered Flight Advisory Board chaired by Colonel Walter J. Boyne (USAF, Ret.), former director of the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution. Bizarre Plane Crashes in the Philippines

Over the course of years, many pilots have been puzzled with the vicious chain reaction of air disasters around the globe.

A combat helicopter pilot and Philippine Air Force spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Restituto Padilla Jr. said, “It’s a foreboding pattern we cannot explain. The bizarre phenomenon has baffled us pilots.”

Padilla added, “In the Philippines, air mishaps usually happen in the month of May.” Philippine aviation records show based on statistics that from March 5 to May 30, 2005, there were six plane crashes, four of them in May. There were a total of 23 people killed. May 2005 is listed in aviation history as the month with the highest number of plane crashes in the Philippines. “The Aviator”, a Classic Epic

“The Aviator” film is a critically acclaimed film, directed by Martin Scorsese, depicting two major events in the life of Howard Hughes, an eccentric aviation pioneer portrayed intensely by Leonardo di Caprio. The film depicted Hughes entry into Hollywood filmmaking and his nasty public battles with U.S. Sen. Owen Brewster over the usefulness of the planes that Hughes Aircraft built for the U.S. military during World War II. His company, the Hughes Aircraft, was responsible for the H-4 Hercules, nicknamed “Spruce Goose” by detractors.
